Outline your stereo type. ex. Incude one piece of research online defining or illustrating your sterotype Make a statment about the connection between this piece of media and your stereotype?

Stereotype is an idea held on a specfic group based on primarily by being a member of a group, i.e. black athletes cannot be in a leadership role. For many years some people questioned the ability of black footbal player ability to play the quarterback postion. the prejudice was that black athletes were not smart enough to play this position. With the emergence of good black quarterbacks it has quelled the theory, but it is still question even though blacks have performed well.

Select one of the media examples given and write a brief reaction.

All this rabbit stew. Was appalling how the depictions of blacks were portrayed. I do not know if this indicative of the time period of this piece, however, blacks were portrayed as being animalistic, and lazy or subhuman. With potraals like this it is amazing that racial tensions were not a lot worse.

Select 2 or 3 of the media samples and explain how they define "blackness" do the clips preent an accurate depiction of African Americans. Do they preent consistency or contadictory image? What do these tell us about contemporary racial categories?

The clip on Oprah Winfrey and Bill
Cosby were very positive in the sense that it shows you that African Americans can also achieve positions of power that not just related to sports. both of these individuals are intelligent and have plenty to contribute to the African American community, but more importantly to society as a whole. They have achieved an icon status where they arenot just view as African American.

The one organizaton and The Save Africa's Children clips were very similar in that they are both striving for the same cause. The Save Africa's Children showed pictures of the African children, however, they were not like the pictures of emaciated children with bloated stomachs. It does raise awareness with blackness as it shows prominent blacks who are fighting for the cause. The one organizations videos clip shows prominent whites and blacks that are involved in the cause. The ambivalance between the clips can be seen or interpreted as it being a black thing so blacks should be more involved or whites again having to fix things for blacks.

Emitt Tills murdered had a tremendous impact on the civil rights movement. The publication of his murdred helped unite the civil rights movemnet as the injustice of his murdered finally publicized the racial atrocities towards blacks. These artrocities were common in the south towards blacks and it was widely accepted. Mamie Tills having her murdered sons body viewed by everyone was vital to open up the eyes to everyone in the country to the condition blacks were living in. This helped to spark an outrage amongst blacks to help them to unite to fight the battle. The battle could not be won individually but united.

What is race?

People who believe and belong to the same genetic. People divided into groups in which have the same skin color, language, culture, custom, Nation, tribe, type of hair, physical features.
Any race has the right of freedom, but unfortunately there are race that have lacked of this privilege against their will.
